WOODFEST COUNTRY SHOW

LUMBERJACKING

The reason we started WoodFest in the first place!

The modern sport of woodchopping is said to have had its genesis in 1870 in Tasmania, as the result of a £25 ($50) bet between two axemen as to who could first fell a tree.

Nowadays, the sport has become popular worldwide and the athletes train to a very high-performance standard as they compete on the world stage.

Competitive wood chopping, axe racing, timber sports all consist of the same main disciplines:

Standing Block

Underhand Chop

Single sawing (Single Buck)

Double sawing (Double buck)

Jack & Jill sawing

2 & 3 board tree climbs

Crosscut chainsaw

Hot Saw

At Woodfest Country Show we host one of the largest Lumberjacks sports arenas, with axemen from UK, Ireland and Europe competing in all the disciplines.

Our 2019 show will also host 2 of the British championship rounds, which is part of the selection for the individual and team  for the World Championships in Norway 2017, and all the current British Champions will be competing here.
